Main characteristics
Stará Turá is situated in the valley between the mountains Biele and Malé Karpaty below the Veľká Javorina Hill 12 km from the town Nové Mesto nad Váhom in the direction of the town Myjava. Urban area - about 1,300 inhabitants live in suburban parts with characteristics of small hamlets. This interesting for tourists area is even more attractive due to its closeness to the border with the Czech Republic.

Establishment of the town Stará Turá
The municipality Stará Turá was declared a town by resolution № 3 of the Western Slovakia National Committee in Bratislava in accordance with section 3 § 13 of Act №. 65/1965 Coll. on National Committees as later amended, which came into being on 5 September 1964.
The town Stará Turá is in accordance with Article 18 of the Civil Code a legal entity with legal capacity that manages its own property and its property rights. Legal capacity was aquired by the adoption of Constitutional Act № 460/1992 Coll. Constitution of the Slovak Republic and Act № 369/1990 Coll. on the general establishment, as later amended. The obligations can be imposed to the town and can be interfered with its duties only by law (Act No. 369/1990 Coll., on the general establishment). The Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic assigned to Stará Turá the identification number of the organization 00312002.
Objectives of the town
The objectives of the town are to provide public administration on its territory, or the transferred state administration, under the conditions stipulated by law, in particular the Constitution of the Slovak Republic and the law of the Slovak National Council No. 369/1990 Coll. on the general establishment as later amended.
